Skinny Minnies

The skinny style of pants originated in the 1950’s, with popular stars such as Marilyn Monroe and Sandra Dee wearing their pants very slim to the ankle. It became most notable with country music stars and the birth of rock and roll, when Elvis Presley donned slim-fitting jeans and shocked the country.

The skinny jean enjoyed a brief revival in the 1980s, only to resurface again in 2006. Today’s popularity of the skinny jean has been credited to that most British of fashion icon’s Kate moss.

The skinny jean is different from any other jeans. It’s tight throughout the leg, tapering in toward the ankle. There are different types of skinny jeans; Cigarette jeans, straight-leg jeans and skinny jeans. The biggest difference is leg opening. Not like skinny jeans where it gets smaller as near ankle, the cigarette jean’s leg opening stays the same. For straight- leg jeans, leg opening stays the same from the tight down.

What to Wear:
Top: Because skinny jeans are so tight, fuller top should be the best item to balance the look. Tunics, short dress, or drapey tops could be the best fashionable item. Otherwise, to wear with tight tops, it should be hit at the belt line and give a point on the belt.

Shoes: Skinny jeans match with any kind of shoes. But to make legs look long and lean skinny jeans should be worn with heels. For lovely look, skinny jeans goes perfect match with ballerina flats and for sporty look, try converse, vans, or toms shoes.
